Math Week 10/29-11/2

Advanced Math We will start adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers. The next quiz will be on Wednesday, November 7th.

Regular Math You have a Fraction Quiz on Tuesday, October 30th. The quiz will cover adding/subtracting fractions/mixed numbers. We will start multiplying fractions on Wednesday.

Advanced Math Test on Friday, October  26th:

*Chapter 1 Test Algebraic Expression Test (break down of test): Study your quiz, notes, and test reviews. 

Problems (1-4) Simplify
Problems (5-10) Name the property and give the missing value of the missing number
Problems (11-15) Evaluate
Problems (16-17) Identify "Like Terms" in each expression
Problems (18-20) Simplify by collecting the LIKE TERMS
Problems (21-22) Simplify using the distributive property
Problems (23-28) Simplify the expressions (these are more complex)
Problems (29-36) Translate each phrase into an algebraic expression

Week of 10/22-10/26

Advanced Math  Chapter 1 Unit Test is on Friday. I will hold an after school Study session on Thursday from 3:15-4:15 for those that need some extra help. We will go over last weeks quiz on Wednesday. I will give you a break down on test problems covered on unit test on Monday. The break down will be posted to Google Classroom.

Regular Math No test this week. You will have a quiz on adding and subtracting fractions on Tuesday, Oct. 30th. Very important to listen and take good notes in class. I will teach you how to set-up the problems for adding and subtracting fractions. Make sure you set-up like I show you in class. If you practice it correctly then you will do fine on your quiz.

*Remember to check grades on INOW every Wednesday with your parents. Make sure to make up all missing assignments. If you write a note instead of turning your homework in on time, then remember to turn it in the next day for partial credit. Partial credit is much better than a zero in the grade book. 

*Take advantage of ETA- Extra Time and Assistance:

Room 112 everyday from 7:30-8:05 there are teachers there to help you with any homework in any subject.

Library open every morning for a quiet place to work and study for test.

Lunch ETA- Study hall every day after lunch.

Advanced Math - Look at Google Classroom for a break down of your quiz that is tomorrow. Next test is on Friday, October 26th.

Regular Math - Here is a break down of  your Number Theory Test. We will start the test on Thursday and finish it on Friday.

Number Theory Test is on Thursday. You need to study your number theory quizzes 1 and 2. Look over your notes on fractions and decimals. You have two test review sheets to help you prepare for the test. One on Tuesday night and the other on Wednesday. I will post the answer keys on Wednesday night. You will start the test on Thursday and finish it on Friday.

Here is a break down of your test:
Problems 1-8 Tell whether each of the numbers is prime, composite, or neither.
Problem 9 List the first 5 multiples of a number
Problem 10 List all the factors of a number
Problems 11-12 Find the Prime factorization of a number
Problem 13 Find the GCF of a set of numbers using factors trees
Problem 14 Find the LCM of a set of numbers using factor trees
Problem 15-16 Write two equivalent fractions for each fraction
Problem 17-20 Write each fraction in simplest form (divide by a common factor)
Problems 21-22 Write each mixed number as an improper fraction
Problem 23-24 Write each improper fractions as mixed number in simplest form
Problems 25-27 Compare the following fractions using >,<, or =.
Problem 28 Order fractions from least to greatest
Problems 29-30 Write each decimal as a fraction in simplest form
Problems 31-32 Write each fraction or mixed number as a decimal. Show your work!
Problems 33-35 Compare fractions and decimals using <,>, or =.
Problems 36-37 Order the following fractions and decimals in order from least to greatest.

Wow! The first nine weeks is over and I am so amazed on how wonderful the students performed. I am very proud of all of them. Great Job Team 6-3!

Keep up the good work! Remember to use your time wisely during ETA lunch and ETA Thursdays. Communication is important! Remember to advocate for yourself if you do not understand the math lesson. I can't help you unless you let me know that you need the help. 

Regular Math  You have a test this Thursday. We will start reviewing on Monday. You will get your quizzes back to help your prepare for the test. You will get two test reviews. One on Tuesday and the other one on Wednesday. I will post the answers to Google Classroom for Wednesday night's review. We will start the test on Thursday and finish it on Friday. I will hold an afternoon study session on Wednesday from 3:15-4:15 if you need some extra help studying for the test.

Advanced Math  You have a quiz on Chapter 1 lessons (1-3) from your blue book. We will review Monday and Tuesday. You have your second IXL Contract that is due Tuesday, 10/23. You will have class time Monday and time on Wednesday after the quiz to work on the IXL.
